Hi everyone. This is Ying. I am from Wuhan, Hubei, a big city in mid-south China, where I lived for 31 years. In 1999, my husband got a J1 visa and came to Memphis as a visiting scholar. After 3 months, my son and I arrived in Memphis. I like Memphis for the reason that both Memphis and Wuhan have the same climate and are nearby a big river (Mississippi River and Yangtze River). Before I came to the US, I was an accountant in China and had 11 years working experience. Now I work in a company that imports merchandise from China. Most of my colleagues in the office are Chinese speaking, so we always speak Chinese in the office. I knew of the IEI program 5 months ago. Before writing class, I took the Communication Skills for Internationals class of IEI program in University of Memphis. I learned a lot of English language skills in the class and learned a lot of different cultures from my classmates who came from different countries.

I'm glad that you are enjoying your time in Memphis and learning a lot. Does anyone at work speak English? If so, you should challenge each other to practice English at least once a day. I have to say that. I am a teacher. =)
Do you see that all you can like in memphis, beside that nothing else!
...Memphis a dead city!!...oh sorry!
